Nudist idea #22: Go to Burning Man

This is one event on my To-Do list. Both for art and nudism. Burning Man is an art and community festival that takes place in Nevada every summer. Burning Man is driven by a set of principles. One is “radical self-expression”, which means that participants are encouraged to express themselves, and as such, nudity is allowed.

As the organizers state: “”Radical self-expression arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others. In this spirit, the giver should respect the rights and liberties of the recipient.” This leads to have a lot of people enjoying Burning Man naked, as also using their own body to do art.

There are many other principles at play at Burning Man that are nudism compliant, if I can say, as “leaving no trace” and “community responsibility”.
But of course, the main objective of Burning Man is art. And enjoying or performing art naked when you are a nudist is a kind of a Holy Grail. Since the event is in the scorching desert of Nevada in Summer, be prepared to get some serious sun lotion and stock it as almost nothing can be purchased locally during the festival (including food and water). Despite many criticisms over the year, Burning Man remain strong and a wonderful time to be socially naked while enjoying art.
