The World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) takes place every year on the first Saturday of May. This day does not depend on any militant organization. It is a festive moment to promote nature and naturism.

It has its web page, wngd.org and its page Wikipedia. It seems to be more and more celebrated. A simple search on the Internet brings back more than sixty thousand results. including many mainstream press articles. This year it takes place on Saturday, May 5. So what to do during this day? Here are some ideas.

Invite Friends

Naturism is social. Sharing the World Naked Gardening Day is more festive. If you find the idea interesting, talk to your friends. There will be one or two that will be available and will help you. Prepare ideas for activities and a barbecue. This is a good start!

Plant

What could be simpler than planting flowers and vegetables? Whether your garden is on your balcony or is several hundred square meters, plant! Far be it from me to teach you how to plant flowers and vegetables. You will find hundreds of videos on the Internet to help you.

On the morning of WNGD or the day before, go to the nearest garden center, and do your shopping. Two small ideas yet for anyone who would wonder what to plant.

The first is for aromatic herbs that we all use in the kitchen. Parsley, basil, thyme, chives, coriander, etc. are easy to grow and most can grow potted. Super handy for cooking and so satisfying to be able to eat one’s own production.

The second idea is about flowers. No need to be a gifted gardener. Ask for gardening advice. Whether you are planting in pots or in a corner of the garden, flowers are a delight for sight and smell. If you don’t have a green hand, choose rustic flowers that don’t need much maintenance like the lupine, the lady’s-thumb or the nepeta.

On D-Day, prepare pots, potting soil, tools, and plants. Distribute the work and get started! Don’t forget to take pictures to remember this beautiful day. and end it by opening a good bottle of your favorite beverage to celebrate the work done.

Mowing and maintenance

A garden requires maintenance. Enjoy extra hands to do some maintenance work. Mowing is a simple activity. Trim the borders for a flawless finish. This may also be grubbing up weeds in an alley (forget the pesticide, welcome the sweat).

Although the trimming season is more winter than spring, pruning is always possible. Learn about the trees that can be and prune them. It may also be enough to cut the dead wood and store it for the chimney or barbecue. If you have wood to cut or crack, here’s a good time too. A little athletic, but necessary to enjoy the fireplace in the winter.

I’m sure if you go around your garden you’ll find tons of other ideas. Especially if you want to develop it better than it is. The WNGD is an excellent opportunity to do this necessary work. Not only you are helping to make the world more beautiful, but you are going to fill up on vitamin D!

Gardening is one of the most obvious activities to practice naked. It is possible that once this day is over, you’ll no longer want to dress for gardening. And that’s great! Naturism is an art of living that promotes respect and well-being.

I wish you a great World Naked Gardening Day. Feel free to comment this post and to share your ideas and comments!
