If you know me well, you will hear me say “open and free.”
What does this mean exactly?
It quite simply means “without clothes,” as this is what it feels like to not wear anything at all.
Now for my next point…
… “I am always nude, but never naked,” is my personal quote.
At this point, you may be asking,
“What’s the difference?”
Well, please allow me to clarify.
First, my take on what Nude is….
When I think of nude, I think of tasteful or respectable art. When you hear of “tasteful nudity,” you may think about art since there is no “nakedity.” It goes hand in hand with nude art, because I myself have never heard of naked art, have you? I just find it to be more tasteful. When I think about tasteful, I think of nudes. I suppose you could say naked in place of nude sometimes, but it just doesn’t have the same feel or tone to it.
Jack Tripper learned the difference between nude and naked from a prospective employer. He learned that “nude is art, naked is dirty.” Furthermore, there are nudists and naturists, but no “nakedists.”
Second, when I think of Naked, I think of a totally different dynamic.
Here, I think of the Bible where Adam & Eve felt ashamed of themselves. Shame is not something that is sought after. I think of dirtier because you have probably heard of “naked and afraid,” Not “nude and afraid” Naked I feel is more animalistic or “primalistic” in nature. It is like primal beings, out in the woods, or such places, being on the hunt.
I also feel that naked is more attached to porn, which is very dirty, and what gives us nudists a very bad name. Because everyone always wrongfully affiliates sex with nudity or nakedness, ie, the natural state. If they did not equate the two, then being without clothes would not be considered so taboo. A friend also thinks of the younger crowd when she thinks of being naked, in that children are natural nudists because they are prone to run around naked while very young.
There you have it. Put in the simplest terms there is the difference between the two, Nude and Naked. So now that I have enlightened you between the two, I ask you again,
“Do you prefer to be nude or naked in your life?”

When driving in my Mustang convertible, I am nude, but not naked. I always wear the seatbelt.
Naked eludes to something missing, nude simply eludes to being bare.

[…] Nude or naked? which do you prefer? […]
Looks like you prefer both.
I prefer to be nude, cause I love nature. If I could , I would be nude 24 hours a day.
Me too, by far the best way to be able to be nude. I am nude at home all day long since I skinny dipped in July ’18

[…] Nude or is it naked? Which do you prefer? by Christopher Jeremiah on 6 December , 2019 at 04:42 […]
Naked wire. It must be insulated or it may shock you. And nudity is the basic state, when there is nothing superfluous.
I live a naked life style. Naked in the house and naked on the beach
[…] I feel that the term, naked, is more immoral or distasteful. It tends to be used to describe Adam and Eve’s shame, or refers to erotic acts. Some see nakedness frequently as sexual with certain impure connotations to it. (For more on this, see my take on nude vs naked.) […]
I thought of a more clear definitions: being nude is being without clothes, being naked is being exposed. If we look at it the “literatural” way.
But despite this I prefer the term naked, I like it more. Nude means a bit dirty for me. Mainly because of “nude art” which in most of the times is obscene. No, I’m not referring to the classics. But most of the “nude art” creations are made in the last few decades. Before a Rubens needed days-weeks-months to paint one picture, today we make hundreds of millions of pictures every day. Not that a million modern “nude art” category pictures worth one Rubens, but if we consider the raw amount, “nude art” is mostly porn.
You said: “naked is more attached to porn, which is very dirty, and what gives us nudists a very bad name.”
That statement is wrong on so many levels. First you call it “dirty”. That alone says a lot about how your views on sex have been influenced by society. Sex is not dirty and neither is porn.
As a nudist or naturist, I do sometimes use the word naked. I think some get too caught up on the words which in the end don’t really matter.
Just be naked (or nude) and free!
I agree in so may ways… as I stated in a commen, it is subject to the interpretation of others.
I love both terms- nude and naked-
“Nude” generally has more class than “naked” does, but as stated in the article, it’s all in the view and interpretation of everyone else.
And, which term I may use in a given instance depends often on my personal intent…
To be quite honest I’m not really bothered. I love being naked, and I love being in the nude, and both mean without clothes. When I talk to my naturist friends, I would probably say I’m always in the nude at home, and that I love being naked on the beach
I prefer nude. The only objection I have to the article is the reference to Adam and Eve as being naked and ashamed. The bible doesn’t say that. It says naked and afraid. We should stop repeating an unfounded interpretation.
Nude… Naked, Bare, Bare-assed, Nekkid, and more are all acceptible in my book… the difference is in the “INTENT”.
I love being all of the above, anytime anywhere, with anyone, or by myself. I’m not interested in being “perverted” while nude/naked amongst others… being perverted is for behind closed doors.
